Formed in Riga in 1981. ILĢI are one of the most significant and influential groups in Latvian contemporary folk and post-folklore music.  Led by Ilga Reizniece the group has spend over 4 decades creating music deeply rooted in Latvian tradtion, while embracing modern influences.  They started as a traditional folklore ensemble and now have evolved into an emotionally rich, exploratory and vibrant world music group.  Their sound blends ancient melodies with elements of rock, ambient and electronic music bridging the past and present in a unique and powerful way.
The music of ILĢI forms a bridge between ancestral voices and contemporary emotion - a living testament to the enduring strength of Latvian spirit and tradition.
