Crafted by a skilled Latvian silversmith, the MILDA Brooch is inspired by the historic 5 Lati silver coin minted between 1929 and 1932. The original coin features the image of Milda, a maiden modelled by Zelma Brauere, symbolising Latvia’s independence and cultural identity during the interwar period.
The design portrays Milda wearing traditional Latvian attire with ears of grain over her shoulder, representing the country’s agrarian roots and connection to its people. The inscriptions “LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA” (Republic of Latvia) and “DIEVS SVĒTĪ LATVIJU” (God Bless Latvia) reflect the nation’s unity and pride.
This coin has a significant place in Latvian history, symbolising resilience and nationalism. Its design continues to be celebrated, even appearing on modern Latvian euro coins.
By wearing this brooch, youļl honour Latvia’s rich heritage and carry a meaningful symbol of national pride and cultural legacy.
